It was Fritz who gave her her silver comb, her most treasured possession. About twenty years ago, she ferried the Druid Oovra up the Hlal from the Stormlands to the Thon-Thalas river outside the Elven Wood. There she captured Griflet, but released him. From that over-friendly encounter, she became pregnant with Westley and Buttercup, whom she raised for fourteen years before turning them loose. Annelle's current lover is Mumlo, a muscle-bound Easterner.

The king remained in the tower, neither wholly dead nor wholly sane. The tower was protected by the Wild Elves. After the Nightmare, Griflet (with the Icon of the Dragon), Kellin, Arborius, Leonore and Windwood entered the tower. Who is the third who walks always beside you?
When I count, there are only you and I together
But when I look ahead up the white road
There is always another one walking beside you
Gliding wrapt in a brown mantle, hooded
I do not know whether a man or a woman
- But who is that on the other side of you?
T.S. Eliot The Waste Land
Mysteriones was originally a life-force stolen from the Dragon Bloodbane by Coryon, by means of the Icon of the Dragon. It could not exist alone, but attached itself to the souls of various hosts: Coryon, Bolga, Philo, King Thugriff and Griflet. Mysteriones appeared as a second shadow of its host. Mysteriones could only change hosts when one died, but each time this occurred, it gained intelligence and became more separate from Bloodbane's old lifeforce.
